🚣 September-October 2026 🍂

Hello there paddlers! A reminder that following our final summer paddle this Tuesday 15th, our weekly sessions will switch over to our Winter schedule:

🛶 Saturday & Sunday (09.15 arrival, on the water for 10.00) – Paddle up to Hurley, or down to The Bounty, and back. Remember water, your own flask and snack, now the tea shop is closed.

🎉 Our 50th Anniversary: Thanks to everyone who came along!

Thank you to everyone who made our 50th anniversary celebrations on the river so special!

From seeing dozens of boats out on the water to enjoying the delicious barbecue, cake, and live music from our talented members, it was a weekend to remember. Special thanks to Tess for organising Saturday’s events – which featured a visit from our local MP, Joy Morrissey – and to Marlow’s Mayor, Jenny Simnett, for joining our Sunday paddle. It was an incredible weekend filled with fun and deep pride in our club.

🍺 Final Midweek Paddle: Join us this Tuesday for a trip down to The Bounty pub

We are wrapping up our midweek summer sessions with our traditional paddle down to The Bounty pub and back this Tuesday the 15th!

To accommodate everyone, we have two departure slots from the club at 6:15PM and 6:45 PM. Make sure to head over to Spond to sign up for your preferred slot so we can get an accurate head count before setting off.

👥 Committee Roles: Give back to the club at our upcoming AGM

Looking ahead to our AGM in February, we are seeking members to step into the roles of Secretary, Treasurer, and Media.

The Secretary keeps us organised and compliant through meeting minutes and liaison work, while the Treasurer manages our finances and bookkeeping. Most urgently, our Media position (handling club communications and merchandise) is available immediately! If you want to give back to the club you love, please get in touch to find out more.

🛶 Progression & Growth: Level up your paddling!

Whether you joined us just this summer or have been paddling with the club for years, there is always something new to learn on the water.

From trying out a completely new craft to pursuing formal coaching qualifications, the possibilities are endless. Check out our ‘Level Up Your Paddling’ progression flowchart to see what exciting challenge might be next for you:

🔍 Missing Equipment: Help us return borrowed kit to its proper home

We have noticed a few pieces of club gear are not where they should be. We completely understand that life gets in the way and things accidentally get carried home after a session.

If you happen to have any borrowed club equipment sitting in your car, garage, or shed, please drop it back off on your next visit – no questions asked and no judgement, we just want to get everything restocked for everyone to use!

A few snaps from our 50th anniversary!

SEPTEMBER

Fri 18th – Sun 20th Sea Trip (UK)📍Anglesey

Note from Simon, our Sea Officer:

“I have just spent a great weekend in Anglesey with Portsmouth Canoe Club that included rock hopping, big swell and tide races, all under the watchful eye of excellent advanced sea kayak leaders. If there is sufficient interest (between 8-16 paddlers) I will organise a trip for us. The trip would be open to paddlers from novice (some sea experience) to advanced on a 1:4 coaching ratio. The coaching would be provided by Sea Kayaking UK Adventures (www.skukadventures.com) at a cost £200pp. Accommodation would be at the Anglesey Outdoor Centre where we could camp or book out a bunkhouse to ourselves (not included in the above price).

I am looking at the weekend of 19/20th September 2026. This may seem like very advance planning but both accommodation and coaches will get booked up once we get into the New Year. It is at least a 5.5hr drive so we would travel up on the Friday.

I will create an event in Spond so please accept it if you want to go. We can then secure everything with a deposit in January.”
