🛶 50 Paddle Challenge

Our 50 Paddle Challenge is WELL underway now, with some really beautifully written entries and photos. It’s just brilliant to see how many different crafts and areas you’ve all been paddling in throughout the year – could any other canoe club boast such variety?!

We’re looking for just five more entries from people. 👉 Make sure you get your submissions in – download a submission form here. 👈

🗓️ So, are you coming along?!

To give us an idea of how many of you will be there, please hit ‘Attending’ on the event Facebook page.

🛶 Courses and training: LOADS up for grabs

We have lots and lots of exciting opportunities for you to develop your paddling and leading skills. You’ll be able to book the Paddlesport and Rescue (PSRC) and Duty Officer (DO) training courses on Membermojo, whilst whitewater courses will be on Spond – hopefully by the end of this weekend!

Here are the upcoming courses and training opportunities:

  • Poole Harbour Tour / Paddlesport Leader Award Practice: 9th May
  • Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course (PSRC): 30th May
  • Duty Officer (DO) Training: 31th May

🍻🌳 Pub in the Park: Parking at Marlow Sports Club

Pub in the Park is almost here! We remain fully open for paddling from May 11th–18th, though parking will look a little different.

The back car park is being reserved for the event’s production team and stallholders, but you can still park on-site in any of the other designated areas.

Maybe just leave a little bit of extra time to allow for a slightly longer walk to our site.

🌉 Marlow bridge works: Expect a report & EGM soon

Thanks for your patience during the Marlow Bridgeworks. The council has formally proposed a permanent alternative location, and we’ll share a detailed report for your review in the coming weeks.

We plan to discuss this at an EGM in June; however, if conditions aren’t right or members vote against it, our default remains returning to our original spot under Marlow Bridge.

🦺 Safety first: Updating medical info & reporting faulty kit

To keep everyone safe, we need your help staying on top of two key areas:

Medical Info: Please ensure your Membermojo and Spond profiles are up to date. Don’t wait for annual renewals – if you have new physical or mental health changes, update your profile and inform your Duty Officer or trip leader.

Faulty Kit: If you spot damaged gear, please make sure to report it. Use the labels and pens hanging in the main container; attach them to large items (like boats) or place labelled smaller items (like helmets) in the faulty equipment bin.

Fri 18th – Sun 20th Sea Trip (UK)📍Anglesey

Note from Simon, our Sea Officer:

“I have just spent a great weekend in Anglesey with Portsmouth Canoe Club that included rock hopping, big swell and tide races, all under the watchful eye of excellent advanced sea kayak leaders. If there is sufficient interest (between 8-16 paddlers) I will organise a trip for us. The trip would be open to paddlers from novice (some sea experience) to advanced on a 1:4 coaching ratio. The coaching would be provided by Sea Kayaking UK Adventures (www.skukadventures.com) at a cost £200pp. Accommodation would be at the Anglesey Outdoor Centre where we could camp or book out a bunkhouse to ourselves (not included in the above price).

I am looking at the weekend of 19/20th September 2026. This may seem like very advance planning but both accommodation and coaches will get booked up once we get into the New Year. It is at least a 5.5hr drive so we would travel up on the Friday.

I will create an event in Spond so please accept it if you want to go. We can then secure everything with a deposit in January.”
