☀️ Slower Group Paddles: Try a new craft and ease back into paddling
We’ll be running a couple of slower paddles this summer – a great chance for people who’d like to take a canoe or a paddleboard for a change, as well as for folks who may not have paddled much over the last few months and are worried about keeping up. Updates will be on the FB page.

🏁 Inspired by the DW? Give marathon paddling a try
Following the Devizes to Westminster over the Easter weekend, our two intrepid heroes Nick and Chris are now healed…….well almost! Nick has posted on Facebook his willingness to support anyone in there endeavours. As will the club.
Thanks once again to our volunteer at Marlow lock – Anthony Ward, who enjoyed himself so much he put in a 10 hour shift!
The Marathon session times do vary, but from the end of May they will be fixed at 7pm on Thursday to run in tandem with the club session.
Thursday 29th May 2025 6pm til 7pm – Presidents Challenge – 2.8 mile circuit, no locks. Any boat of your choosing. Set the best time you are able. Followed by the Marathon session at 7.
If you are looking to increase your mileage, fitness and blisters, I thoroughly recommend this one. Andy M and I did it in the K2 and had a great day out. It’s in October this year but as it’s mainly canal based, the flow or river conditions are not so much of a worry: https://www.entrycentral.com/worcesterringrun
If you’re already super fit and just need a challenge, this one ran twice last year with a lot of good reviews. August bank holiday: https://www.thames200ultra.com/race-entry
📣 Calling all Duty Officers!
We’ve created a Duty Officers (DO) subgroup on Spond, following a great suggestion to improve communication. If you’re already on Spond, you should now be in the group and have received a link by email. Questions? Contact Tessa.
We need DOs to supervise sessions from 11th May onwards. The river’s in great condition – perfect time to get involved, even if you’ve had a break over winter. Club sessions depend on your support!
