Hello there paddlers! A reminder that weekly sessions continue to run to our winter schedule:
π° Saturday & Sunday (09.30 arrival, on the water for 10am) β Paddle up to Hurley and back. Remember your own flask and snack, now the tea shop is closed. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for updates on river conditions and potential cancellations.
For those who still want their midweek fix, we’re still running monthly night paddles. Scroll down to ‘Dates for your diary’ for more info.

π AGM: Awards, Photo Competition, and Invitation to Join the Committee
Save the date for our AGM on Monday 3rd Feb, held at Marlow Sports Club this year – there’ll be a bar (oooooh!) and finger sandwiches (ahhhh!).
π’ We welcome interest in all positions on the committee, but are actively looking for people to fill the roles of Secretary, Sea Officer, and Touring Officer so do let us know if youβre interested and/or would like more details β big thanks to Carsten, Andrew, David, and Ian for this year!
π This is also a call for award nominations for Volunteer of the Year, Swimmer of the Year, and Most Improved Paddler.Β Drop your nominations in an email to Tim. (If you feel someone is deserving of an award that doesnβt fit into one of these categories, feel free to put them forwards.)
Β π· Got any good pics from your various trips and club sessions this year? Send them to Charlie and we’ll try to display them at the AGM – we may even turn it into a little competition!

Marathon paddling is preparing for the Devizes to Westminster with several training events:

Due to cold temperatures, use caution on lively rivers and avoid solo paddling. Carry warm, dry kit. Longer one-way trips (16-20 miles) for Marathon boats will be advertised in February.

π Paddling Our Own Canoe: The Thames from Source to Teddington
Five years ago, MCC members Phil and his friend set off on a 12-day canoe journey from the source of the Thames to Teddington Lock, raising money for UNICEF. After 25 years, Phil’s book, Paddling Our Own Canoe, recounts their adventure. Available from Shieldcrest, Amazon, and Waterstones. Visit his website for more details!
π Bridge Works & Clubhouse: A quick update
Thanks for your patience on the ongoing clubhouse plans. Alex, Steve, and Tim are beavering away liaising with the Council and architect on designs and various permissions, but come end of Feb/March time we’ll be putting together a bit of an action plan for our relocation.
When the time comes, we’ll be grateful to have all hands on deck to help move boats/kit etc, so keep your eyes peeled for updates.
